Introduction: Finding the “Reset” Button It has been a little while since I last sat down to share a journey with you. Sometimes, the best way to rediscover your voice as a storyteller is to step away from the screen and into the silence. As we transition into the beautiful spring of 2026, I’ve found myself craving something beyond the usual city break—I was looking for a place where the air is pure, the cars are non-existent, and the luxury is found in tranquility.
That search has led me to a destination I’ve had on my radar for a long time: Resort Svatá Kateřina in the heart of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands.
The Destination: A Car-Free Sanctuary Located just a scenic 2.5-hour drive from Vienna, Svatá Kateřina is famous for one thing above all else: Silence. The resort is a strictly car-free zone (you leave your vehicle in a guarded lot in the nearby town of Počátky and are whisked away by a private shuttle). For someone who lives in the pulse of Vienna, the idea of a resort surrounded only by deep forests and natural springs is the ultimate luxury.
The Architectural Highlight: The Ayurvedic Pavilion What truly drew me to this trip is the Ayurvedic Pavilion. For my fellow design lovers, this building is a masterpiece—it won the “Building of the Year” award and is literally built on massive monolithic stones. It’s designed to bring the forest inside, with floor-to-ceiling glass that makes you feel like you’re meditating among the trees.
I’ll be diving deep into their authentic Ayurveda programs, which are run in partnership with the Kairali Group from Kerala, India. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing how traditional Indian medicine translates into the cool, crisp environment of the Czech highlands.
What to Expect in My Upcoming Review: I’ll be sharing a full “Deep Dive” soon, but here is what I’m most excited to explore:
- The Gastronomy: Tasting the Ayurvedic menu (which recently earned a nod from Gault & Millau).
- The Rituals: Experiencing the Druid Stone circle—a replica of Stonehenge designed for energy and meditation.
- The Active Side: Early morning Yoga in the pavilion and perhaps some horse riding through the highland meadows.
Stay Tuned… I am so happy to be back behind the lens and the keyboard. This trip feels like the perfect way to kick off a new season of The Vienna Blog. I can’t wait to take you along with me through my Instagram stories and, eventually, a full detailed guide here on the blog.
Have you ever experienced a “Digital Detox” or an Ayurvedic retreat? Let me know in the comments or over on Instagram!
Travel Tip: If you’re planning your own escape from Vienna, Svatá Kateřina is an easy drive via Znojmo. It’s the perfect distance for a long wellness weekend.
