It’s time to make a confession about my TV and me ……. A couple of years ago, I completely stopped watching TV as I only had one small TV in my home which was a more then 10 years old. Till then I used to watch only a few traditional TV Channels and the viewing experience was kind of super boring. After attending the announcement event of the new QLED TV in Paris Samsung surprisingly offered me a QLED to review it – including delivery it to my home – I could not resist to say yes and look forward to having it here!

Finally – last week the 65-inch Class Q9F QLED 4K TV (QE65Q9F) along with a Sound+ sound bar (HW-MS650) was delivered …. and I immediately started ´reviewing ‘…… watching video clips, sporting events and a lot more…. and – after years – enjoyed it!

This is quite a step up from what I’ve been watching years ago – why? Let me share with you the top things to know about the New Samsung QLED TV!

Picture quality QLED – when it comes to the colors

What is QLED?

To find a clear explanation, I watched a couple of tutorials on YouTube to find this explanation….: Quantum dots are tiny particles of between two and 10 nanometers in diameter. They’re employed in displays due to their ability – in conjunction with other materials – to give off different colors according to their size.

The advantage of this technology is that it´s capable of emitting brighter, more vibrant and diverse colors – the sort of colors that really make HDR (high dynamic range) content shine, thanks to the high peak brightness that can be achieved!

extremely technical – I know – so what does it mean for you – well, the picture quality of the Q9F makes you feel like putting on glasses. The world might look good – putting on your glasses makes it wow – the world suddenly gets really sharp and colorful!

Style and Design – when it comes to the look!

The Samsung Q9F has an elegant sleek design, the gently jet-black screen reaches to within a quarter-inch of the edge of the panel, which is surrounded by just a few millimeters of black bezel without any built-in ports……! Making the ports portable means that once you put the TV on a stand or mount it on a wall, you’ll likely never have to access the back of it again – genius design!

It is supported by a single bracket in the center and looks perfect on my USM TV cabinet

Of course, the design of the screen means there are no visible speakers. The TV’s built-in speakers sounded fine, but there is a reason Samsung wanted me to use the Sound+ sound bar along with the Q9F (more about the Sound+ later)..

One Remote Control

The Q9F comes with a stylish silver remote that’s made of metal and feels substantial in your hand, and it has a simple design dominated by a circle of four buttons. Most of the navigating is done on the screen. You may also download the free Samsung SmartView app on your phone and use it to control the TV.

New Samsung One Connect Box – when it comes to the connections

Samsung has moved all the ports from to a small breakout box that connects to the panel via a very thin optical cable. You can place the box with the ports inside your TV cabinet next to your peripherals. You still need a traditional power cable from the TV to an AC outlet. Advantage. Smart Box Connects your components to one separate box and not to the back of the TV so you can see more of what you want to and less of what you don’t!

Quick and easy installation – when it comes to being lazy

The setup was so easy – yes you need 2 Persons to get it out of the box – because of the size – but – after plugging in the cables to the Smart Box – you are ready within a couple of minutes!!!

Samsung Smart HUB – when it comes to being smart

The TV’s Smart Hub interface allows you to see all your connected sources (like OTA, U-Verse, Apple TV, Roku or Fire TV) along with built-in streaming apps (like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon) in one place, connected to the internet through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Press the home button on the remote and quickly navigate to any source.

SOUND+ SOUND BAR – when it comes to the sound

Sitting just in front of the Q9F in my living room was the Sound+ sound bar.  Each Sound+ has nine speakers, each with its own amplifier, to provide full sound without a separate subwoofer; the subwoofer is built in the sound bar! I did turn it up loud a few times, and I was very happy with the sound. The Sound+ can be connected with the included optical audio cable or wirelessly, …and it can stream music from your phone wirelessly.

My very personal conclusion

When choosing a new TV, it’s all about how you like the look – take a little time to compare – seeing is believing……!

Pros:    Stunning design and crystal-clear picture quality, great smart TV interface, quick and easy to install

Cons:   High price, remote a little too reduced

To resume let me say the Q9F is a surprising and wonderful TV – the QLED technology is very impressive and a real competitor to OLED ……for those who are looking for a top-quality TV experience – Samsung QLED is your choice!
