We had a 3-hour climbing up the tour to the Gamskarkogel. The ‘Gamskarkogelhütte’ – is the hut located right on the summit at 2,467 meters – and got amply rewarded with stunning panoramic views and a truly impressive sunset………

After spending the night in the very basic and therefore relaxing hut …. 2 surprises awaited us …..the breathtaking sunset that was topped by a more than rich breakfast served by the Foodmoakt_Gastein in the Gamskarkogelhütte…..no better way to start a day!!!

At least once in a lifetime, everybody needs to taste this one: The more than famous Kaiserschmarrn – one of the preferred dishes of former Emporer Franz Joseph I. – well, we did at Poserhöhe and I am still missing the right words for this delicious Schmarrn!

Operated by Railjet and Austrian Railways (ÖBB), the Vienna to Bad Gastein train service departs from Wien Hbf and arrives in Bad Gastein. Typically 14 trains run weekly, although weekend and holiday schedules can vary so check in advance.
