The traditional Vienna Philharmonic Summer Night Concert in the unique ambiance of the Schönbrunn Palace Gardens

You love music. You love concerts. You love the thrill of an open air event.

Since 20004 every year The Vienna Philharmonic invites all Viennese inhabitants as well as guests of the city, to the Summer Night Concert in Schloss Schönbrunn. Admission to the concert is free! This year the concert was guided by the German conductor and Pianist Christoph Eschenbach. The special star guest was the internationally successful soprano and opera diva Renée Fleming.

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra – known around the world

The history of the Vienna Philharmonic is closely connected with Europe and especially with the city of Vienna. In the 175 years that the orchestra exists the Vienna Philharmonic from the picture and the reputation of the city of Vienna as the “Capital of Music”.

Vienna Schönbrunn Palace

With the free concert at the Palace Gardens in Schönbrunn, the Vienna Philharmonic wants to offer something extraordinary to all Viennese people and the guests of this city. The setting for the musical evening cannot be grander. This year there was a new stage position in front of the Schönbrunn Palace instead of in front of the Neptune Fountain in the Palace Gardens of Schönbrunn. The Palace is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. A visit to the Palace is a must when you are in Vienna. The Palace is a monument to the Imperial Habsburgs. Started in 1548 by Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II it has had over the years many royal patrons. The Palace is named after an artesian well which was a ‘beautiful spring’ thus Schönbrunn.
Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna is The #1 Tourist attraction of Austria with nearly 3 million visitors each year. For the concert, it is wise to arrive using public transportation as there is a paucity of parking spaces.

Antonín Dvořák: Carneval. Ouvertüre fot the big Orchestra, op. 92 // “Za štíhlou gazelou”, Arie der Armida aus “Armida”, op. 115 // “Rusalka”
Igor Strawinsky: Danse infernale, Berceuse and the End from “L’Oiseau de feu” (“The fire bird”). Ballett (The Version from 1919)
