Das Edelweiss Salzburg Mountain Resort – Luxurious Living Amidst Alpine Beauty
The resort, managed by Karin and Peter Hettegger – the third generation to run this family hotel, is a perfect amalgamation of tradition and luxury. Every square meter of this hotel in Grossarl speaks of excellent quality and exquisite taste. From the Edelweiss mountain cuisine that tantalizes the taste buds to the beautiful mountain spa, the amenities leave nothing to be desired.
The Das Edelweiss Salzburg Mountain Resort Lobby & Alpinlounge Experience in Grossarl
The moment my car was parked in the underground garage, it signified the beginning of my retreat. Everything essential for a perfect getaway was housed under the resort’s roof. The generous Alpinlounge, resembling a bustling piazza, becomes the pivot of all activities. Guests mingle over an espresso or aperitif, recounting their adventures or relaxing post-dinner in this space.
At the heart of the Alpinlounge is the bar where Barchef presents a selection of imaginative cocktails. The central nature of the lounge provides easy access to other attractions, like the exquisite wine bar Kork & Gloria or the in-house restaurants. Activities, shopping, or venturing outdoors – everything starts here, ensuring short distances and impeccable service.
Rooms & Suites in the Luxury Resort
The rooms and suites, soaked in sunlight, offer captivating views of Großarl. Simplistic yet elegant, with a focus on natural hues and materials, they exude a comforting ambiance. The bathrooms, both minimalistic and chic, are a treat to the senses.
Das EDELWEISS Breakfast: A Journey of Flavors
The gastronomical offerings are an amalgamation of luxury and local flavors.
Mornings begin with a lavish breakfast buffet, where local delicacies stand alongside fresh fruits and superfoods. Evenings are dedicated to the Mountain Cuisine, with a wide-ranging menu from regional dishes to vegan delights.
EDELWEISS Gourmet Restaurants and Wine Cellar
Before dining, guests can select their perfect wine during one of the regular tastings at the Kork & Gloria wine bar. Whether it’s Austrian specialties like “G” from the A. Gesellmann house or one of the six available vintages of Château Petrus, the approximately 50-page wine list is truly impressive. In the adjoining wine cellar, connoisseurs will find up to ten different vintages of certain wines waiting for them.
Sirloin Dine & Grill Steak Restaurant
For those seeking a specialized dining experience, reservations can be made at the steak restaurant Sirloin Dine & Grill
During my visit to the SIRLOIN Grill & Dine Steak Restaurant, I was immediately captivated by the sizzle and aromas emanating from the open show kitchen. The menu is a carnivore’s dream – from hearty rump steaks to T-bone delights and the exclusive taste of Black Angus specialties. What stood out were the seasonal dishes, mouthwatering salad assortments, and irresistibly tempting desserts.
A top-notch steak has two unmistakable hallmarks: the quality of the meat and its preparation. Here, every ingredient is chosen with unparalleled attention to detail. It’s worth noting that many of the ingredients, especially for their steaks, are sourced from their very own butchery and, whenever possible, local farmers whose practices and products they are familiar with. The passion evident in the selection process is mirrored in the culinary craftsmanship of each dish.
Kork & Gloria Winebar
I had the delightful opportunity to visit the Kork & Gloria wine bar, and it was an experience worth savoring. For wine aficionados like myself, it’s an absolute haven.
Upon entering, the dominant, thick oak panel that stretched across the room immediately caught my eye. It’s an eloquent nod to the wine corks sourced from such trees. In fact, every detail and item in the room seems to celebrate the essence of fine wines.
Greisslerei – Austria Corner Shop
The decor, reminiscent of a ‘Greisslerei’ – those quintessential Austrian corner shops – added a nostalgic touch to the sophisticated ambiance. But the real star of the show? The wines, of course. I had the pleasure of tasting an array of both local and international wines, each bringing their unique flavors and stories. Every sip, in that meticulously designed setting, felt like a journey through vineyards from around the world.
Sushi Counter
During my recent visit to Das Edelweiss Salzburg Mountain Resort, I decided to try out their sushi counter and I must say, it was an exquisite experience. One of the standout features is their extensive sushi menu, curated by Sushi Master Alexis. Hailing from Laos, Alexis brings with him an international flair, dazzling diners daily with his fresh, inventive sushi creations.
The culinary spread ranged from the delicate flavors of Ikarimi salmon California roll to the richness of Gillardeau oysters and Sturgeon caviar. What caught my attention, besides the sushi, was the perfect pairing of wine from the resort’s Kork & Gloria wine bar.
The experience was further elevated knowing Alexis Savanx’s renowned reputation – with a wealth of experience from Asian fusion restaurants in cities like Miami and Las Vegas to luxury hotels across the globe, he truly knows how to delight even the most discerning palate.
The assortment was vast – from classic choices like nigiri, sashimi, maki, and inside-out rolls to more innovative options like vegan sushi, ceviche, and a variety of oysters. The personal touch? Ordering your preferred sushi selections and then watching them be masterfully prepared right in front of you at the sushi counter in the lobby. Every bite was a testament to freshness and craftsmanship.
