Spittelberg Vienna or Spittelberg Wien is a small “village in the city” of Vienna, the capital of Austria.
Located in the 7th district of Vienna with charming little lanes and well preserved beautiful Biedermeier houses. Just enjoy the romantic, fascinating atmosphere of historical cobble-stoned streets.
Romanticism and Biedermeier at the “Berg”
Once the most notorious part of Vienna outside the city gates, today a lovingly revitalized Biedermeier area with numerous restaurants, cafés, and bars with idyllic guest gardens, hidden in romantic backyards. The Viennese Spittelberg is located in the 7th district (“new building”) right behind the MuseumsQuartier between Breite Gasse and Sigmundsgasse and has always attracted visitors from a wide range of milieus. In the small, romantic alleys you will find charming Biedermeier houses, rustic Viennese pubs, chic design bars, but also dignified restaurants, and student bars. In summer you often sit outside and enjoy the vibes of the city at your feet, because the Spittelberg is slightly higher than the city center. In winter, the Christmas market on Spittelberg provides a cozy atmosphere with mulled wine and punch. Often referred to as the “village in the city”, Vienna’s most beautiful quarter has the second largest pedestrian zone in the city with well-preserved historical buildings and idyllic little squares and is also only a few minutes walk from the city center.
