In romantic Vienna, the scent of mulled wine fills the Christmas market on Rathausplatz in Advent in front of the beautiful backdrop of the Vienna City Hall in neo-Gothic style. Christmas gifts are sold at more than 150 wooden stalls, from handcrafted wooden toys to lavish Christmas tree decorations and Christmas candles, fairy lights are stretched across the square and nativity stories are read out every evening.
