Last Updated on April 24, 2023 by gregor

If you’re looking for things to do in Vienna that won’t cost you a dime, you’re in luck! There are plenty of free activities to enjoy in this beautiful city. From strolling through parks and exploring museums to taking in stunning architecture, you can have a great time without spending a lot of money.

Vienna, Austria

Vienna District Museums

Today, every district in Vienna has its own museum. Some focus on niche themes, such as chimney sweeps, clowns, or bricks. They are not related to each other, which is why each one offers a different opening time. To find out their opening time before you head on over.

Where: in every district of Vienna
Entry: Free!

Take a free walking tour

Vienna offers tourists the opportunity to explore the city centre free of charge through walking tours. Taking a free walking tour is one of, if not, the best way to get to know a place and receive information and overview the quickest way possible. It is something I always recommend to travellers, which is why I have put it on this list.

There are quite a few companies offering free tours in Vienna. Here are my top recommendations

  • Good Tours: www.goodviennatours.eu
  • PrimeTours:     www.primetours.at
  • Red And White Tours: www.redandwhite.tours
  • Welcome Tour Vienna: www.welcometourvienna.at
  • Free Tour Vienna (Spanish only): www.freetourvienna.eu
  • Free Walking Tour (Italian only): www.viennaedintorni.com

Summer Night Concert at Schönbrunn Palace

There’s no need to spend a lot of money to have a good time in Vienna. One of the best free things to do is to attend the Summer Night Concert at Schönbrunn Palace. This concert series features some of the best classical music in the world, and it’s all set against the backdrop of the stunning Palace. Grab a picnic blanket and a bottle of wine and enjoy an evening of beautiful music under the stars.
