The Best 10 Day Itinerary For Croatia and Slovenia

Day 1: Arrive in Dubrovnik and explore the Old Town – a UNESCO World Heritage Site

After arriving in Dubrovnik, spend the day exploring the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is one of the main attractions here. Start by walking the city walls for sweeping views of the red-tiled roofs, then explore the labyrinth of cobbled streets lined with churches, palaces, and museums. Be sure to visit the Rector’s Palace, the Cathedral of Saint Blaise, and the Franciscan Monastery. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Croatian meal in one of the many restaurants dotting the Old Town.

Day 2: Take a day trip to the Elafiti Islands

After breakfast at your hotel in Dubrovnik, head to the old town harbor to catch a ferry to the Elafiti Islands. The Elafiti Islands are a group of three small islands just off the coast of Dubrovnik. They are known for their tranquil atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and clear turquoise waters.

Day 4: Take a day trip to Lake Bled in Slovenia

There’s something special about Lake Bled in Slovenia. Maybe it’s the way the water seems to change colors throughout the day, or the way the mountains seem to reflect in the glassy surface. Whatever the reason, a day trip to Lake Bled is a must-do while in Slovenia.

The best way to get to Lake Bled is by car. The drive from Ljubljana is about an hour, and once you arrive, there are plenty of parking options. From the parking lot, it’s a short walk to the lake.

There are a few different ways to enjoy Lake Bled. You can take a leisurely stroll around the perimeter, which takes about an hour. Or, you can rent a paddle boat and explore the lake on your own. For the more adventurous, there’s even the option to go parasailing.

Day 5: Drive to the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, and explore the Old Town

After breakfast in your hotel in Croatia, start your drive to the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. This charming city is set against a backdrop of mountains and is full of history and culture. Start your exploration of the Old Town in the morning. Walk the streets and admire the architecture, stopping in at some of the museums and churches. In the afternoon, take a break in one of the cafes or restaurants. Then, head to the Ljubljana Castle for some great views of the city. In the evening, stroll through the lively city center and enjoy some of the nightlife.

Day 6: Drive to the Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle

After breakfast in your hotel, you will drive to the Postojna Cave, one of the largest and most visited caves in the world. The cave is 21 kilometers long and has been open to the public since 1819. You will take a train into the cave and explore its many chambers and passages.

After your visit to the cave, you will continue on to Predjama Castle. This castle is located in a cave and is one of the most unique castles in the world. The castle has been inhabited since the 13th century and has a long history. You will tour the castle and learn about its many features.

We started our exploration in the Old Town, where we walked the streets and admired the architecture. We also visited the Cathedral of St. Anastasia and the Museum of Ancient Glass. In the afternoon, we enjoyed the sun and the sea at Zadar’s famous Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun.

Day 10: Drive back to Dubrovnik and fly home

After a long and amazing trip, it’s time to head back to Dubrovnik and fly home. But before you go, be sure to check out some of the amazing sights Croatia and Slovenia have to offer!

Start your day by driving back to Dubrovnik. On the way, be sure to stop at Lake Bled in Slovenia. This gorgeous lake is surrounded by mountains and is simply breathtaking. Take a stroll around the lake or go for a swim if it’s a warm day.
