The 2 Days of the IWC Schaffhausen Event in Switzerland were packed with interesting inspirations about the IWC History, a lot of interesting trends about the watchmaking Industry and the future of manufacturing and how IWC Schaffhausen is responding to this industry transformation.
Of course, an Influencer Event could not be an influencer event without Lifestyle themes, fun and a lot of photo shoot opportunities to capture the inspirations and share them with their communities all over the world.
In this Blog-article I would love to share with you the Top 5 Highlights of this event and if you plan to learn more about Switzerland, a flight with the historic JU-52 airplane and the “IWC Schaffhausen World” here is what you need to do and see when in Switzerland:
Flight with the historic JU-52 airplane
After arrival in Switzerland at the Zürich airport the IWC Schaffhausen company bus took us to Dübendorf
to the Air Force Center where we visited the Aviation FAB museum.
The AVIATION FLAB Museum is located in the Canton of Zurich in Dübendorf on the grounds of Dübendorf Air Base. The collection was founded in 1972 by the Office for Military Airfields and dedicated to the history of Swiss military aviation and air defense In over 40 aircraft and helicopters you can literally see how fast technology has changed, from the wooden biplane to the interceptors flying at sonic speed.
In the first floor, the visitors can enjoy extensive collection of original radio-stations, aviation cameras, uniforms, overalls, machines, and other aviation devices from the start of aviation until contemporary time.
Highlight: A flight around Swiss Alps in a historic plane built in 1939. (JU-52)
IWC Schaffhausen Museum
IWC Museum A journey through history. More than 230 carefully selected exhibits bear witness to a manufacturer that made a name for itself in its founding years for exceptionally reliable quality and unmistakable, universal design. The watch collection begins with the legendary Jones caliber in American casings, the first pocket watches with digital display, richly decorated tailor and ladies jewelry watches and the earliest IWC wristwatches. It sheds light on the development of multi functional measuring instruments such as aviation, observation, diving and anti magnetic watches and finally leads to exclusive specialties and one of the most complex wristwatches in the world: the “Il Destriero Scafusia”, which celebrates the company’s 125th anniversary limited edition was built.
Over 230 exhibits are stylishly showcased in artistically lighted display cabinets. Visitors obtain information about each piece from interactive screens.
They marvel at the legendary Albert Pellaton Jubilee Watch, or the genealogical trees of famous watch families. A multimedia presentation about the over 150 years of company history completes your trip through time.
Weingut Hedinger – Swiss Wine tasting
Swiss Wines are maybe not that well known as French or Italian wines, but honestly after we enjoyed a great wine-tasting, we all were surprised about how good they tasted. Wow! The third generation family farm manages ten hectares of vines in and around Wilchingen. In addition, they buy grapes from local quality winegrowers. They process the grapes into rich, consumer-friendly wines, which regularly cause a sensation at national and international awards. The winery is affiliated with a gift shop with beautiful accessories and souvenirs.
The New IWC Manufakturzentrum in Schaffhausen
After 21 months of construction and six months of moving teams into place, the beautiful building was finally ready to welcome its first visitors, and just a handful of journalists received tours earlier today. On one level, this might be a factory, but on another level it’s a statement from IWC about how it sees itself and where it wants to go in the future.
The IWC Schaffhausen Headquarters Tour
A dream came true. After the visit of the IWC Manufakturzentrum we were invited to the IWC Headquarters to get an exclusive tour to the production area including a presentation of the full collection of IWC Schaffhausen watches.
