To celebrate the 50 Years Anniversary of Mercedes-AMG I was more than pleased to be invited to attend the celebration event. In this blog post, I will share with you the highlights of the tour that led us on a sunny summer weekend from Munich to Berchtesgaden and back to Munich, Germany.

Day 1:Arrival at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinksi in Munich

The event started Friday evening at the ´Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski` in Munich. After the official welcome of the participants by Eva Wiese (Head of Marketing and Product Management Mercedes-AMG), we had the pleasure to enjoy a kitchen party, live cooking, and a delicious flying buffet. The whole evening was a blast from the kitchen party to the DJ making us dance all night long.

Day 2: AMG Tour Munich – Berchtesgaden

After enjoying a tasteful and energizing breakfast we all attended the mandatory safety briefing. Mercedes-AMG is very cautious and conscious about safety and risk – so we learned a lot about the tour, safety, and emergency rules, and even how to right position the seat of the car to be saved in case of an unexpected accident.

Together with the Mercedes AMG crew, we took some old-timer busses to drive to the AMG Performance Center in Munich. What a surprising welcome – about 20 AMG cars were already waiting for us to be our exciting companions during the next days……! Next surprise – every one of us would have the chance to drive every car – as we were told that every 30-40km a car switch was planned!

Dreams come through – as the classic G65, the elegant S 65 Coupe, the C 63 S Cabriolet and Coupe, the AMG Roadster models GT C and the highlight – “The beats of the green Hell” – the super-sports car Mercedes-AMG  GT R were waiting for us……!!! Find a complete list of all AMG cars on the tour at the end of this blog post.

Later Afternoon we arrived at the Alpine Lifestyle Hotel – The Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden for checking in and getting refreshed.

Later we enjoyed a wonderful summer evening with a spectacular view all over Berchtesgadener Land at the Johann Grill terrace restaurant. BBQ, refreshing cocktails, and – again – a live DJ…. what a perfect combination to round up this exciting day…. in anticipation of another spectacular day – day 3….!

Day 3: AMG Tour from Berchtesgaden to Munich

The Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden offers a stunning breakfast buffet that focuses on local and seasonal food like bread, butter, jam, and fruits that all come from the local region in Bavaria and Salzburg – just the right energy for the exciting day!

The AMG anniversary tour days 3 started from Berchtesgaden to Munich. We passed the border to Austria and the tour continued via the´ Postalm` – a lovely yet curvy mountain route where I was super happy that I could drive the AMG GT R for about 30km. What an amazing car –  unbelievable acceleration and heading through the mountain curves – an indescribable exciting pleasure!

After the GT R, we changed cars and I then got the chance to experience the AMG G65… what a different classic and luxurious driving experience!

AMG Performance Center Munich

After being energized with a deep black Espresso cafe we drove back to the AMG Performance Center in Munich –  the last 50 kilometers on the German highway – partly without any speed limit – time to let the Mercedes-AMG cars prove what they promise – incredible driving performance….!

The Mercedes-AMG Driving Academy team made our dreams come true and we all had an unforgettable weekend experiencing and testing the full palette of Mercedes-AMG car models…. wow!
